Richard and Deborah had their first
introduction to television when they were chosen to be included in the C.B.C.
Talent Search. A few years later, the Popovich Family Singers were
invited to appear on Ian Spearing's show, "Ian and Friends". Richard
and Deborah enjoyed becoming involved with television, and it was during
this time when they worked with Shaw Cable, that Richard and Deborah
produced and were the hosts of their own television series, "Metronome".
This show was recorded live in studio, and featured Richard and Deborah
entertaining, and performing a collection of famous songs from different
era's. The highlight of each show included a special guest. A
few of Richard and
Deborah's guests included: |
|
Ivan Daines
Former rodeo star and founder and promoter of the "Ivan Daines Country Music Picknic"
held in Innisfail, Alberta.
 |
Dick Damron
A member of the
"Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame"

One of the most exciting projects
Richard and Deborah have undertaken, was the formation of the Alberta Swing
Orchestra. For their 2nd season in television, in conjunction with
Shaw Cable, Richard and Deborah decided to move out of the studio, and
create a live show on location, featuring their newly formed 16 piece Alberta
Swing Orchestra. The swing band consisted of 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, 5
saxophones, piano, bass, guitar, drums, and a vocalist. The series of
12 shows was entitled "An Evening With Richard & Deborah". As well as
hosting the show, Richard played bass and directed the band while Deborah
was the featured vocalist. People from all over Alberta came to the
Red Deer Lodge to dance to the marvelous sounds of the Alberta Swing
Orchestra. With a dancing audience in excess of 400 people, the
ballroom at the Red Deer Lodge was really swingin'!
